The things we focus on at long traditions are nothing new. These trades are some of the oldest in existence. Bricks have been used since 7000 BC that we know of. We’ve been building with stone since – well – the stone age. The buildings that were made without modern technology like central air conditioning in mind are special. The stone used, the mortar, transom windows, awnings over all of the windows, cupolas, even what direction the house faces: these were mindful choices to make sure the house could stay cool in summer and warm in winter, and they did it all without electricity. As the climate gets warmer and our electrical costs climb higher and higher, it is of tantamount importance we care for these homes so they can best care for their inhabitants.
We have been caring for nature longer than we’ve been stacking stones upon one another. Since the dawn of the human species, we have lived in harmony with the environment around us. The way we live now is so removed from the way we evolved to live. Our lives now aren’t bad, but think about the nature that’s evolved to live alongside us. Now, we’re cozy in our houses while the natural world calls out for it’s missing friend. A forest, mountain, or plain isn’t complete without a person walking through it, tending to it. That’s where Long Traditions come in. We will bring nature to your front door (and back door too) and teach you how to be friends with it all.
